Shift At Midnight Night 8 Walkthrough — Sheriff Warning, Roaches, and Information Overload

Night 8 deliberately overloads you. A death notice, a sheriff warning, vent pests, longer family chains, ordinary thieves, vehicle inspections, and a possible attack all compete for attention. Customer order and identities can change between runs, so the route below preserves the stable checks and uses verified customers only as examples of each evidence type.

N8-M01 — Start the shift and go directly to the notice board

The opening objective tells you to check the board. Do that before opening the queue, shopping, or cleaning old debris. Night 8 turns one line from this board into a decisive relationship check later in the shift.

N8-M02 — Record the road notice and Louise Kennedy's obituary

Read the entire Midnight News sheet, not only the large roadwork headline. In the verified runs, the obituary states that Louise Kennedy, age 24, passed away unexpectedly. Write the name down exactly. A later person can mention a Kennedy relative, and memory alone is unreliable once several records are open.

N8-M03 — Listen to Clyde's full Calendar Killer warning

Clyde says the Calendar Killer is active and that two serial killers have spread the police force too thin for him to remain at the store. This is a warning to prepare, not permission to skip Clyde's own identity check when he appears. Preserve the statement as nightly context and continue using the database.

N8-M04 — Memorize the roach rule before the first one appears

The computer message is explicit: roaches crawl out of vents around the store, lower the store rating, and must be squashed with a mop. Move the mop somewhere reachable from the counter. A firearm, broom, purchased trash bin, or ordinary cleanup animation does not replace the required mop interaction.

N8-M05 — Verify Clyde instead of trusting a familiar face

Search Clyde Dawson and match the sheriff occupation, portrait, and the listed detail that he often wears glasses. Familiar recurring characters can still participate in randomized identity sets, so his warning call is not evidence that the person at the counter is automatically safe.

Prepare the store without draining attention

N8-O01 — Buy survival equipment while the counter is quiet

Open the Shop tab before the customer queue accelerates. The flamethrower enters the emergency arsenal, deals fire damage, and has limited ammunition. Buy it only after protecting the money needed for required objectives and medicine; keep a conventional firearm available because the flame cone can ignite the player at close range.

Run the information-heavy customer loop

Use the same order every time: ID scan → exact database record → portrait and traits → occupation and timeline → named relatives → vehicle or receipt → nightly facts → decision. Do not memorize whether a recurring face was human in somebody else's run.

N8-M06 — Date every document and invitation

Inspect documents found in a vehicle instead of treating them as decoration. One verified customer carried a wedding invitation naming Greta Darling, a Monday-the-third ceremony, and Wilbrook Lane. Compare the names, place, and age of the document with the driver's explanation. The end report can expose an invitation as many years old, so a plausible wedding story is not enough by itself.

N8-M07 — Treat the vehicle as a second identity record

For a fuel request, inspect the car and enter the displayed plate on the vehicle terminal. Check registration date, model, color, condition, and the details-update interval. In the verified example, plate PL98 returned a 1994 yellow SUV described as extremely dirty. Approve the transaction only when the physical vehicle and the story agree with that record.

N8-O03 — Resolve ordinary theft as store crime

A shopper can steal food and be caught by the store system. Demand the items back or use the available theft response, but do not label the person a doppelganger solely because they stole. Night 8 repeatedly tests whether you can separate human crime from impossible identity evidence.

N8-M08 — Expand every family claim into its own searches

If a customer says she is a mother, spouse, twin, or sibling, scan her ID and search each named relative separately. A verified Martha example named children Leo and Ben. Compare names, ages, and the exact relationship rather than accepting a matching surname or a believable story about divorce and childcare.

N8-M09 — Compare the shape and side of a birthmark

An ID card establishes the claimed identity but does not prove the face matches. Dimitri's record specified a large birthmark on the right side of his face. In one run, the live mark had a different outline and extended differently beneath the eye than the database portrait. Check side, boundary, and position—not merely whether some mark exists.

N8-M10 — Use the obituary to break a false living-relative claim

David Kennedy can mention a negligent twin sister and then say she is at home on the couch. Stop and reopen the fact sheet: the shift began with Louise Kennedy's death notice, and the database lists her as deceased. A direct claim that a confirmed dead relative is currently alive is decisive; do not let the customer redirect you to clothing or occupation questions.

N8-M11 — Separate a loose phrase from a measurable contradiction

Barry's phrase "working all day" can mean repairing his own fence, so it does not automatically contradict an unemployed record. Continue to the exact ID, height, fingernails, portrait, and other measurable traits. Verified runs produced different truth states for this recurring identity, including an ordinary fake-ID problem, which is why a remembered face or one ambiguous sentence is unsafe evidence.

N8-M12 — Calculate job history against the date of birth

Harold Brand's record shows a birth date of March 15, 1954, while the computer date is December 8, 1993. His claim of spending 40 years in pest control would put the start of that career before he was born. That impossible timeline is stronger than his missing beard: the record updates weekly, so a statement that he shaved this morning could otherwise be plausible.

N8-O02 — Restock during a real gap, not during an interview

Use a quiet interval to finish shelf prompts and accept deliveries. Do not walk away while a customer is still making a relationship, vehicle, or work-history claim. The green Shelf Stocked confirmation is your signal that the chore is finished and the evidence loop can resume.

N8-M13 — Search full names; do not accept a fuzzy result

When a customer names a spouse, type the full first and last name and make sure the computer actually switches to that relative's record. A partial search can leave the original profile on screen. Confirm the relative's existence, age, occupation, and described trait before using the relationship as positive evidence.

N8-M14 — Read singular and plural body claims literally

Daniel Flores's database record says he is blind in the left eye. When the customer says both eyes are unusable, that is not a harmless paraphrase; it expands a one-eye condition into a two-eye condition. Reopen the record, compare the exact wording, and reject the direct physical contradiction.

N8-M15 — Keep vehicle crime separate from supernatural identity

A locked rear compartment deserves inspection. Break or open the lock with the appropriate tool, question the driver, and compare the plate, model, and registered vehicle description. Finding hidden cash or stolen property establishes suspicious human activity, but it does not by itself prove that the driver's body and identity are nonhuman. Finish the person check before deciding.

N8-M16 — Translate left and right from the subject's perspective

When a record says a tattoo is on the left hand, use the customer's left—not the left side of your monitor. Rotate or inspect closely enough to see the correct limb. Linda's eye tattoo example demonstrates how an otherwise accurate trait can look reversed when the person faces you.

N8-M17 — Reject a borrowed identity when the whole build fails

Inspect the card, then compare the live person with the stored portrait and description. A verified Marcus Thompson record described an extremely muscular, extremely tall personal trainer; the person presenting the card looked short, young, and unlike the portrait. A claimed haircut or clothing effect cannot explain several independent mismatches at once.

Control the pests and the conditional attack

N8-M18 — Interrupt routine work for every visible roach

Keep the mop in a known spot and listen for crawling near vents, shelves, and corners. Face the roach and use the mop attack until it is visibly gone. Repeat throughout the shift; killing one does not disable later spawns, and an ignored pest continues to threaten the rating while you interview customers.

N8-M19 — Drop every store chore when the defense countdown appears

If admitted doppelgangers trigger the red alert, stop restocking, shopping, and pest cleanup. The on-screen objective lists the priority: lay traps, barricade doors, take a weapon from storage, and reload. Use the timer for setup rather than waiting at the counter for the enemy to arrive.

N8-M20 — Finish each barricade before changing tools

Carry planks to an exterior door and hold the board-door interaction until the boards are visibly fixed. A highlighted doorway is not yet protected. After one entrance is secure, place traps on the remaining approach and equip a loaded weapon with room to retreat.

N8-M21 — Use the flamethrower at distance and watch your own fire status

The flamethrower can damage the attacker quickly, but the verified fight also shows the player catching fire at close range. Back away before holding the trigger, avoid spraying across your escape route, and switch weapons when its limited fuel is spent. Do not stand inside the flame cone merely because the enemy's health bar is falling.

Close Night 8 and audit the overload

N8-M22 — Mop all remains before leaving for the bus

After the attacker is down, the shift objective still requires cleanup. Mop blood, squash any final roach, bag loose remains, and complete urgent restocks before going to the bus. Weapons left on the floor do not matter as much as active mess and pest penalties.

N8-M23 — Read the full completion breakdown

The results screen records quota, human casualties, missed doppelgangers, and personal earnings. A clean verified run reached Night 8 of 13 Complete with no humans killed, but the customer report is more important than the headline total. It can expose a document that was ten years old or a career claim that began before birth—exactly the details most likely to be lost during information overload.

N8-M24 — Carry the broadcast and medicine timer into Night 9

The post-shift broadcast says the Calendar Killer failed to strike for the first time in six months. The same results sequence warns that only one day remains before the next medicine bill. Preserve that reserve, then continue to Night 9 with the fixed evidence order instead of memorizing the customers from this run.

Night 8 failure recovery

• You forgot who died: reopen the notice board before interviewing any Kennedy and keep the obituary name in a short written list.
• A relationship search seemed to prove nothing: type the full relative name and verify that the computer changed records; a partial query may leave the original customer visible.
• The customer changed a beard, haircut, or clothes: flexible appearance changes are not decisive. Find a second contradiction or an impossible date, age, or job history.
• You killed a thief or fake-ID user as a doppelganger: separate ordinary crime from body, database, and timeline contradictions.
• The rating keeps falling: keep the mop near the counter and squash every new roach; decor and restocking do not remove pests.
• The defense starts before you are ready: buy planks, traps, and a ranged weapon early, then abandon routine chores as soon as the countdown turns red.
• The flamethrower keeps burning you: increase distance, avoid sweeping flames across your own route, and switch to a conventional weapon before fuel or health runs out.
